Bellgave Place

Hollywood Hills, CA. What do you get when you have Pierre Koenig's Stahl House as your muse and the opportunity to build with 270-degree views of Los Angeles? Add to that access to some of the world's finest building materials, and you have our latest project with Plus Development, Bellgave Place.

This 8,000 square foot home sits atop one of the Hollywood Hills’ last promontories, adjacent to Koenig’s famous creation (also known as Case Study Home #22). Reminiscent of its well-known neighbor, the house sits cantilevered off the hillside with expansive glass windows that frame the view and create a sense that the home is floating above the city.

The teams at Woods+Dangaran and Saota Architects paid great attention to materiality. Travertine, marble, and prime MADERA Oak are among the high-quality components featured in the home and provide a luxurious purity to the design. This simple palette allows one to digest the awe-inspiring views before them more fully.

Nine-inch wide MADERA Oak provides the perfect grounding element in this project, appearing in every inch of living space, including the kitchens and bathrooms. Custom-made floating stair treads and landings transition from the first to the second floor of the home, and the long length of the planks used (between eleven and sixteen feet) provides a cohesive aesthetic.

Måne, one of our more popular finishes, was customized for the project and acts as the subtle link to harmoniously connect the indoor and outdoor spaces. To us, that is the essence of a timeless wood floor. This product’s true purpose is to amplify and complement the inherent beauty of each space.
